The problem with many bad designs is that they often look sloppy and not very professional. The reason many beginner designs feel unstructured is not that they are bad ideas but the way the design is done.
Clean design starts with simplicity. Focus on simplifying your design and getting rid of visual clutter. The cleaner the design, the stronger it will look. Don’t put all elements in one design; focus on what matters the most. Give plenty of space between elements, don’t put them in random ways, and don’t make everything too small.
When you align elements to a grid or a line (left or center), your design looks more organized. This applies to color usage too. Instead of using many colors randomly, pick a few and use them in a consistent way throughout your design. Use one main color and 1-2 supporting colors and the neutral ones.
Don’t use too many fonts either. Choose 1 font for headings and another for subheadings or paragraphs. This gives you a lot of freedom but it won’t be as overwhelming. Use larger text for headlines and smaller text for paragraphs or body text.
Don’t let everything in your design look the same. Using contrast in size, shape, and color will make a good impression and guide the viewer where to look. When using similar design styles, keep a consistent flow and style in terms of space, shapes, and patterns. Without it, even good elements can feel disjointed.
Finally, look at your design from a distance and evaluate the overall impression. Is it easy to read? Is it clear what the focus of your design is? Are you following the same style throughout? You are in the right place if the answer is yes.
At VisualStylePro, the basics are taught in a simple and clear way so you can apply them right away and see great results.
